On October 24, 2025, our company “Chon-Ak-Suu Hydro Energy” commissioned the headworks under the current project “Construction of a Cascade of Small Hydropower Plants with a 9,700 m Pressure Pipeline on the Turgen River.”
The headworks include the following structures:
- An overflow dam, 4.4 m high
- A flushing channel, 19 m long
- A labyrinth fishway, 41 m long
- A settling basin, 32 m long, equipped with coarse trash racks and flat gates
- A pressure chamber with a trash rack
This launch marked the beginning of the most visually impressive stage — the filling of the upper reservoir (headpond) and the release of the first water flows through the dam.
The commissioning of the headworks (water intake) signifies that the hydraulic complex has begun partial operation. At the same time, the construction team successfully tested the fishway — a specialized engineering structure designed to ensure the safe migration of fish. This is an important ecological component of the project, helping preserve the biodiversity of the Turgen River.
During the construction of the first stage, the water intake will operate in an overflow mode through the dam. The settling basins will remain closed until the first hydropower station is commissioned.
Meanwhile, at the future site of SHPP-1 (Small Hydropower Plant No. 1), all excavation works for the foundation pit have been fully completed. The concrete pouring of the main building foundation and the foundations for the power units have also been finished.
The scope of work completed demonstrates that the project is progressing strictly according to schedule.
